Job Summary
Instructional Assistant/Bus Driver provides support to the teacher in the instruction of students. A wide variety of tasks are performed to support the teacher in the teaching-learning process for students. The employee operates a school bus transporting children on established or special routes under limited supervision, along with instructional duties such as giving group instruction, monitoring students, preparing visual aids, recording data, and reporting student progress to the teacher. Responsibilities include maintaining student discipline and safety on the bus, attending workshops, and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Essential functions include supervising students, transporting authorized students, keeping the bus clean, and complying with transportation and safety regulations.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Associate’s Degree or Completion of 48 semester hours of college
- Completion of Work Keys Tests and 96 contact hours of staff development
- Valid Driver’s License with good driving record
- CDL License with passenger school bus endorsement and current Bus Drivers Pocket Card
