Job Summary
Full-Time Instructional Assistant at DORS West, Christel House Indianapolis. Support adults earning Indiana Core 40 diploma by assisting students with assignments, monitoring groups for safe and positive learning environments, maintaining progress interventions, providing re-teaching and tutoring under supervision, implementing instructional programs and lesson plans, and attending meetings. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm with 202 service days. Offers competitive pay starting at $18/hour plus health care options, retirement contributions, referral bonuses, and eligibility for federal student loan forgiveness for teachers.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree with some training/exposure to education and teaching
- Ability and willingness to work collaboratively; maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Competency in using technology
- Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
- Bilingual preferred
- An agreement with the mission statement and goals of Christel House Schools.
- Assist students with assignments that reinforce learning concepts.
- Monitor individual and/or groups of students for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
- Maintain a record of interventions and progress monitoring.
- Provide ‘re-teaching’ and tutoring sessions around core instruction that was delivered by the classroom teacher.
- Implement, under the supervision of the teacher, instructional programs and lesson plans for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts
- Attend meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
- Other duties assigned.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in tutoring or instructional support
- Bilingual ability (English/Spanish or other)
- Experience with data tracking and progress monitoring
- Familiarity with Indiana Core 40 standards
- Comfort with using educational technology
