Job Summary
Assist with instructional programs and general school operations by participating in daily and long-range lesson planning. Conduct learning exercises with small groups of children and guide them in working and playing harmoniously. Alert teachers to special needs, provide escorts as necessary, and supervise children during play periods. Help maintain informal student performance records and assist in maintaining student work and study areas. Collect and display suitable material for educational displays. Report directly to the building principal or designee. Perform other duties as assigned. This part-time role supports Riverview Gardens School District's mission to serve 4,900 students across 12 schools from early childhood through high school while working toward regaining full accreditation.
Required Qualifications
- 60 college credit hours
- Associate's degree or higher (Emphasis on teaching)
- Missouri ParaPro Assessment passing score (before September 23, 2013)
- Missouri Paraprofessional Assessment passing score (September 23, 2013 and after)
- Completed Missouri's 20-hour online substitute training program
- Ability and personality to work with colleagues, teachers, and other staff
- Successful completion of a background check by Human Resources
- Exerts 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally
- Exerts 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently
- Prolonged periods of working on a computer
- Sufficient vision to read printed material, see distant objects with clarity, and identify and distinguish objects
- Sufficient hearing to hear conversations in person and on the telephone, and hear sounds clearly up to 20 feet
- Ability to speak in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversation and on the telephone, and in addressing groups
- Ability to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed
