Job Summary
Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement individualized instruction and behavioral interventions aligned with student IEPs while monitoring progress and fostering a supportive learning environment. Manage student behavior effectively, reinforce school policies, and apply consistent disciplinary measures alongside educators. Provide personalized support to students facing academic challenges, tracking their growth against established timelines and communicating successes or areas needing intervention to relevant staff. Complete accurate documentation of behaviors and performance, including daily activity logs and behavioral reports, while maintaining strict confidentiality of all student records. Communicate proactively with students, colleagues, supervisors, and families regarding needs and achievements, and participate in school-wide meetings to foster collaborative support networks.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent w/ passage of basic skills test
- Hold currently or have the ability to obtain a CA state driver's license
- Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company approved crisis management training
- Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining a paraprofessional, paraeducator, teaching assistant or similar credential
- Prior experience providing instruction, guidance and/or support to children
- Experience in an alternative, special education and/or behavioral health program setting
- Highly skilled in working with children with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, emotional behavioral disorders and/or other related disabilities
- Comfortable driving and/or riding in a company van with students before and/or after school
- Ability to think and act quickly and calmly in an emergency and make independent decisions
- Proficiency in providing motivation and having critical conversations with students that help move them toward realistic goals
