Job Summary
As an Instructional Aide, provide individualized support and guidance to students in a Special Education program (Grades K-12) working closely with classroom teachers to implement IEP-aligned instruction and behavioral interventions on-site and in community settings. Responsibilities include monitoring student progress, maintaining instructional fidelity, applying targeted strategies to improve comprehension, managing classroom behavior in collaboration with teachers, mentoring students in academic, social, and daily living skills, documenting behaviors and performance, preparing reports, and communicating with families and administrators. Requires a High School diploma or equivalent (Associate degree preferred), CA driver’s license, crisis management training, and a credential preferred for paraprofessionals. Strong collaboration, confidentiality, and proactive communication are essential, along with proficiency in instructional technology and Microsoft Office.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate degree or higher in education or related field preferred
- CA driver's license
- Ability to obtain/maintain crisis management training certification
- Paraprofessional/teacher's aide credential preferred
- Experience providing instruction or guidance to children; preferably in special education/behavioral health setting
- Knowledge of working with students with disabilities including autism and EBD
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and instructional technology
