Job Summary
Assist the certified instructor in initiating, participating, and culminating learning activities within the Secondary MoCI Classroom. Provide a positive and safe learning atmosphere while physically managing students of varying abilities. Supplement instruction by supporting individual or small group pupils, reinforcing lessons with remedial or drill activities, and preparing classroom materials. Assist the teacher in preparing reports and maintain strict confidentiality regarding student information. Serve as a positive role model demonstrating responsible citizenship and adhere to the Code of Ethics. Perform duties under direct supervision with regular, reliable attendance. Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluid, and tissue is possible; a valid driver's license may be required for reimbursement.
Required Qualifications
- Be a high school graduate, or equivalent
- minimum of two (2) Years of successful experience as an aide in a day care training program or a special education classroom, or equivalent experience
- be recommended by an administrator who has supervised the work of the aide for at least one year
- advance training in a community college or degree granting institution whose special education instructional aide training program has been approved by the Michigan Department of Education
- Experience or training specific to job assignment or classroom
- valid driver's license
