Job Summary
Instructional Aide II in a Special Education program for grades K-12. Youâll deliver individualized, curriculum-aligned support to students, collaborate with teachers, implement IEP/ITP/PBIP-based strategies, assist with transitions to mainstream or adult programs, and contribute to data collection, functional assessments, and behavioral interventions. Responsibilities include hands-on vocational training, supervising transportation as a rider when applicable, ensuring student safety and dignity in daily activities, maintaining documentation, and supporting a positive, student-centered classroom environment. Requires a Bachelor's degree, CA Emergency Sub Permit eligibility, a valid CA driverâs license, crisis management certification, and at least 3 years of instructional/support experience with children in special education or related settings. Strong communication, organization, crisis intervention, and technology skills are essential, as is the ability to drive a company van and work in both on-site and community-based contexts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in education or closely related field
- Hold currently or have ability to obtain a CA Emergency 30 Day Sub Permit within 90 days of starting employment
- Hold currently or have ability to obtain a valid CA state driverâs license
- Ability to obtain and maintain crisis management training
- Willingness and ability to drive a company van and transport students
- Minimum 3 years' prior experience providing instruction, guidance and/or support to children; preferably in an alternative, special education and/or behavioral health program setting
- Experience with children with learning disabilities, emotional behavioral disorders, autism spectrum disorders and/or related disabilities
- Experience in special education services, lesson planning, classroom management and personalized instruction preferred
- Proficiency in motivation, communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving and decision-making
- Ability to think and act quickly in emergencies
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic office equipment
