Job Summary
Instructional Aide II in a Special Education program for grades K-12. Responsibilities include delivering personalized curriculum with on-site and community-based activities, implementing IEP/ITP/PBIP-based strategies, collaborating with teachers, completing documentation, data collection and analysis for Functional Behavioral Assessments and PBIPs, providing job coaching and community-based vocational training, supporting physical care needs, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance, participating in mandatory trainings, and assisting with classroom operations and transportation as a rider or driver when applicable. Requires a Bachelor's degree or higher, CA Emergency Sub Permit eligibility, CA driver’s license, crisis management certification, willingness to drive a company van, and at least 3 years of experience supporting children in educational or behavioral health settings. The role emphasizes compassionate student support, data-driven planning, crisis de-escalation, collaboration with families and staff, and adherence to agency guidelines within Spectrum Center Schools and Programs (ChanceLight). Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a closely related field of study
- Hold currently or have the ability to obtain a CA “Emergency 30 Day Sub Permit” within 90 days of beginning employment
- Hold currently or have the ability to obtain a valid CA state driver’s license
- Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company approved crisis management training
- Willingness and ability to drive a company van and transport students within the community
- Minimum 3yr's prior experience providing instruction, guidance and/or support to children
- Prior experience and/or highly skilled in working with children with learning disabilities, emotional behavioral disorders, autism spectrum disorders and/or other related disabilities
- Proficiency in providing motivation and having critical conversations that help students move toward realistic goals
- Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision-making ability
- Well-versed in the use of relevant technology including experience with computers, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry and basic office equipment
