Job Summary
Supports special education students by adapting classroom activities, developing, implementing, and modeling behavior and instructional support plans, and assisting in training staff, parents, and pupils in specialized instructional strategies. Helps with data collection and assessments for behavior support services, implements alternative communication and social skill interventions, and monitors student progress. Supervises students during assemblies, field trips, lunch, and recess, and travels to varied school sites as required. Requires High School Diploma or GED with Highly Qualified training certification or at least 48 hours of college/associate’s degree. School district: Lorena ISD, Lorena, Texas.
Required Qualifications
- Certified as outlined in No Child Left Behind
- High School Diploma or GED and “Highly Qualified” training certification; or at least 48 hours of college or and associate’s degree
- Ability to work well with students and adults and to communicate effectively
- Ability to follow directions, schedules, and Special Education programs
- Ability to understand implications of disability and translate into good teaching practices
- Confidentiality in all situations, in and out of school environment
- Ability to maintain control under stressful situations
