Job Summary
Owns the day-to-day general ledger for large portfolios of institutional-owned SFR properties in a fully remote role. Responsibilities include full-cycle GL accounting, preparing/reviewing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for institutional clients, recording accurate journal entries, executing month-end close (bank reconciliations, accruals, reconciliations), researching and resolving GL discrepancies, maintaining property-level books in Appfolio, meeting strict monthly reporting deadlines, and partnering with Property Management, Property Maintenance, and Accounting leadership. Utilize Google Workspace, Slack, Appfolio, and spreadsheet tools; communicate proactively with teammates and stakeholders; identify and implement process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency of the close and reporting cycle.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of general ledger accounting experience
- 3+ years of experience reviewing, compiling, and creating financial statements for large portfolios of SFR properties
- Strong command of double-entry accounting — you know your debits and credits
- Experience with Appfolio strongly preferred
- Experience with Google Workspace, Office 365, and Slack
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Highly organized, deadline-driven, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment
