Job Summary
Institutional Giving Manager responsible for a portfolio of annual and multi-year foundation/corporate grants, researching funders, drafting proposals and reports, and coordinating with program staff and leadership to meet grant deliverables. The role supports institutional fundraising to increase foundation revenue (approximately $1-2 million annually), advances donor materials and communications, ensures adherence to funder requirements, and utilizes CRM/donor management systems to track opportunities, deadlines, and reporting. Will collaborate with Bread for the World Institute and Bread for the World (501(c)(3)/(c)(4)) to strengthen foundation and corporate funding strategies, while coordinating with finance and program teams on budgets and expenditures. Hybrid work model with in-office presence in Washington, DC (minimum eight days per month) and remote options available for strong candidates; limited travel may be required. The department emphasizes rigorous writing, deadline-driven performance, and alignment with Bread’s mission to end hunger through policy advocacy and program impact.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree is required or equivalent work experience
- 3 years of experience securing and managing grants
- Demonstrated success managing a portfolio of foundation donors and relationships with program officers and internal colleagues
- Experience in crafting proposals, reports, and budget documents
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Experience with CRM/donor management systems
- Knowledge of nonprofit advocacy and hunger-related issues (desirable)
Desired Qualifications

- Experience with proposal development: concept notes, written grant proposals, reports, budgets
- Strong project management, organizational, and systems-thinking skills
- Experience utilizing CRM/donor management systems
- Knowledge of nonprofit advocacy at federal, state, and/or local levels (preferred)
- Knowledge of international and/or domestic hunger-related issues (desirable)
- Knowledge of Raiser's Edge (desirable)
- Understanding of 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) nonprofit tax rules (plus)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to multitask in deadline-driven environment
- Financial acumen to develop project budgets and financial reports
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Experience drafting donor materials (proposals, letters of inquiry, reports, grant agreements, presentations, acknowledgment letters)
