Job Summary
Install residential and light commercial HVAC equipment, ventilation, and refrigeration systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications. Perform start-ups, balance airflow, align belts, and install ducts and fittings as required. Diagnose limited system issues, resolve customer problems, and promote products to ensure satisfaction. Train other installers on technical skills and procedures. Assist the Field Supervisor with site supervision, work planning, quality audits, and estimating. Manage installation vehicles, tools, and inventory by ordering stock, returning defective parts, and completing material requisitions. Collect payment, deliver equipment, and handle all related paperwork accurately and timely.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years' experience in HVAC technical training
- HVAC technical training certification
- All valid licensing or certification as required by federal, state, provincial, or local governmental laws or regulations for the geographical work area
- EPA certification
- Safety certifications
- Proficiency in the fundamentals of the operational functionality of heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment as well as related accessories
- Advanced skills at installing heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment as well as related accessories
- Proficiency in the layout and installation requirements of duct work and duct fittings
- Advanced mechanical aptitude
- Ability to operate all necessary tools and equipment
- Proficiency and ability to operate all necessary tools and equipment to perform various installation projects
- Advanced skills at reading wiring diagrams
- Ability to troubleshoot problems with electrical, refrigerant and duct systems on HVAC equipment
- Ability to properly start up and balance airflow
- Ability to properly align belts and pulleys on all systems with little to no supervision
- Advanced skills installing electronic air cleaners, refrigeration systems, hot water systems, steam boiler systems, humidifiers, and related equipment with little to no supervision
- Ability to calculate heat gain and loss on buildings using approved methods
- Valid driver's license
- Acceptable driving record
- Ability to stand and walk
- Ability to climb ladders and attic stairs
- Ability to maneuver in attics, basements, and crawl spaces to access HVAC units
- Ability to continually climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
- Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including but not limited to the following: hot, cold, outdoor, indoor, dry, humid, slippery surfaces, heights, and congested areas
- Ability to safely climb 300lb load capacity rated ladders with a 30lb tool belt
- Natural or corrected vision to see and focus for close, distance, peripheral vision with normal depth perception
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Available to work flexible hours
- Available to work on-call shifts
