Job Summary
Installer I is responsible for the complete installation of residential and light commercial HVAC equipment and accessories in customers' homes, including installation of HVAC components per manufacturer specifications, duct fabrication and installation, system start-ups, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. The role involves providing customer-focused service, promoting products and services, training other installers, performing site planning and audits with leadership, and assisting Field Supervisors with supervision, planning, and quality checks. Requires high school diploma or GED with 5+ years of HVAC experience, EPA/safety licenses, and appropriate certifications, strong diagnostic and installation skills, ability to read wiring diagrams, excellent customer communication, and willingness to work flexible hours and on-call shifts.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with additional training and 5 plus years’ experience in HVAC
- HVAC technical training certification required
- EPA and safety certifications required
- Must possess all valid licensing or certification as required by federal, state, provincial, or local laws for the geographical work area
- Proficient in HVAC fundamentals, installation of heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and related equipment
- Advanced skills at reading wiring diagrams and troubleshooting electrical, refrigerant and duct systems
- Ability to install duct work and duct fittings, start-ups, and balancing airflow
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Able to train other installers and assist with supervision and audits
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to work flexible hours and on-call shifts
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and climb ladders
- Ability to work in various environments (hot, cold, indoor, outdoor)
- Knowledge of safety and EPA regulations
- Experience with equipment maintenance, repairs, and inventory management
- Familiarity with warranty parts handling and documentation
- Experience with material requisition and administrative duties
