Installation Technician II

Job Summary

Install access control, IP camera, and alarm systems according to engineered drawings while independently troubleshooting network components and performing corrective maintenance. Manage all aspects of installed security products, including programing devices, testing systems, and red-lining drawings post-install. Communicate activity updates to the Project Manager and customers, maintain safe working and driving conditions, and complete all necessary job ticket paperwork. Work under pressure with minimal supervision, travel independently, and attend required product or safety training.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or state-recognized equivalent
  • Minimum 3-5 years of field installation experience in the security environment
  • Knowledgeable of security equipment systems (i.e., intrusion detection, assessment, and access control)
  • Capable of installing and maintaining various alarms, access control, and assessment system devices
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, work extended hours, and travel independently
  • Ability to obtain required state low-voltage/security licenses as required
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to work well and interact with other UT employees as well as UT customers
  • Strong work ethic and teamwork; 'can do' attitude and desire to provide best service
  • Strong interpersonal and communicative Skills
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision; must be a self-starter and quick learner
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues that would have a negative impact on job productivity
  • Thoroughly complete all necessary paperwork relating to job tickets
  • Maintain a safe, clean working environment always
  • Maintain the condition and cleanliness of any company provided vehicle
  • Maintain a safe driving record
  • Read and understand drawings and equipment schematics
  • Provide direction and leadership for system installations
  • Install and program Alarm (Intrusion), Access Control, IP video systems
  • Test, troubleshoot and preform necessary corrections to security system
  • Further, the Technician must be able to learn UT's device monitoring/management methodologies
  • Must be able to independently install, program, troubleshoot and perform maintenance on electronic devices, power supplies and all network components
  • S/He must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be able to work closely with subcontractors and customers
  • The Technician must be a self-starter who can make sound decisions that are in the best interest of the project, the customer, and Unlimited Technology
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with the Project Manager and present a knowledgeable and engaging image to customers
  • Must be able to effectively lead and coach others

Desired Qualifications

  • Certifications in Lenel/Software House access control preferred
  • Certifications in American Dynamics, Genetec, Exacq preferred
  • Experienced in the installation of door hardware such as strikes and magnetic locks
  • Experience troubleshooting network switches
  • Experienced in reading and comprehending engineered drawings
  • Experienced in the marking up, or 'red lining' of drawings post install
