Installation Technician II

Job Summary

Perform installation tasks including cable pulls, terminations, rack fabrication, and wiring while leading Level 1 Technicians on small projects. Read schematics and blueprints to guide equipment layout, then test point-to-point cabling and system functionality. Use hand and power tools to solder, crimp, and troubleshoot audiovisual systems, while tracking tools and equipment on site. Act as customer liaison to manage change requests and coordinate with other trades, communicating daily status to the Project Manager. Travel to various job sites as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with clients, colleagues, and vendors; with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and concisely, focused on customer success and satisfaction
  • Intermediate understanding of audio-visual systems, including projectors, screens, speakers, microphones, video conferencing equipment, digital signage, and control systems
  • Intermediate proficiency in installing, terminating, and troubleshooting low-voltage cabling (e.g., HDMI, CAT5e/6, fiber optic), and experience with conduit runs, cable trays, and other wiring methods
  • Intermediate ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues with audiovisual equipment and systems
  • Intermediate understanding of network infrastructure and how it integrates with audiovisual systems (e.g., IP-based systems, streaming, cloud-based services)
  • Ability to lead site teams on small projects
  • Ability to use hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ability to work and think independently to meet deadlines
  • Intermediate knowledge and use of specific test equipment for required applications
  • Intermediate knowledge and application of industry installation safety codes and standards
  • Ability to advise Project Manager on installation related concepts affecting project planning, scheduling, and budgeting
  • Ability to advise Project Engineer in developing solutions to complex technical issues
  • Ability to assist Programmer in loading and testing code on site
  • Valid Driver's License and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets AVI-SPL Driving Privileges standards
  • Minimum of 2 - 4 years of audiovisual installation experience required
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Employees operating company or personal vehicles for business purposes must be legally authorized to drive, maintain a valid driver's license and provide proof of coverage, meeting all minimum required insurance coverage as a condition of employment
  • Employees driving fleet vehicles must meet eligibility requirements; comply with all guidelines, including telematics monitoring, vehicle maintenance schedules, proper use of assigned fuel and toll devices
  • Travel to various job sites required

Desired Qualifications

  • Formal education in Audio Visual, Electronics or related field preferred
  • Valid and current AVIXA CTS General Certification preferred
  • Specific industry specific and manufacturer training / certifications to meet AVI-SPL skill/ability requirements
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Course
