Job Summary
Install, route, label, and terminate Cat5/Cat6, coax, and fiber optic cabling in commercial environments while measuring, cutting, and pulling cable according to work orders and drawings. Use diagnostic equipment to verify signal transmission and troubleshoot connectivity issues to restore service standards. Document expenses, timekeeping, and project records accurately. Carry and monitor a company phone during scheduled and required on-call hours, including overtime, overnight travel, and weekend work as needed. Lift up to 75 pounds and perform overhead work from elevated positions while maintaining professional communication with customers.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation for assigned coverage area
Desired Qualifications
- Experience or training in cabling, low-voltage systems, electrical work, electronics, telecommunications, IT, or a related technical field
- Working knowledge of network media such as Cat5/Cat6, coax, and fiber optic cable
- Ability to use common hand tools, cable termination tools, measuring devices, and diagnostic test equipment
- Ability to read blueprints, schematic diagrams, work orders, and technical instructions in English
- Proficiency with standard office equipment, computers, phones, Microsoft Office, and Visio
- Professional communication, appearance, and discretion when working with customers and client personnel
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Self-guided, dependable, and able to work independently with limited supervision
