Job Summary
Inspectors responsible for construction administration, inspection and testing services on state, county, and local roadway projects; will read project drawings, specifications, blueprints, and perform quality control testing on concrete, soils, asphalt, aggregate, masonry, and reinforcing steel. Prepare and maintain project records and reports, notify the Project Engineer of status updates or non-conforming work, and ensure contractor compliance with state specifications. Role is primarily field-based with some office work, and involves frequent travel within the central Ohio region. Requires knowledge of engineering and construction/testing principles, strong communication, ability to work with minimal supervision, and experience with standard testing methods; preferred credentials include ACI Grade I, NICET II, ICC inspections, and/or CWI/NDT inspectors.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management OR technical school/Community college graduate
- ODOT project experience is a strong plus
- Experience with concrete, asphalt, earthwork, and utility construction engineering services and inspection/testing
- Experience with field and laboratory testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, masonry, structural steel and fireproofing
- Preferred certifications: ACI Grade I, DOT Asphalt Tech, NICET Level II Soils, ICC Special inspections and/or CWI/NDT inspectors
- Must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record
