Job Summary
Develop and obtain certifications for roadway and bridge construction inspection while learning VDOT procedures, safety protocols, and environmental compliance. Perform field inspections of excavations, drainage structures, road surfaces, and bridges to verify compliance with plans and specifications, completing daily reports under the direction of experienced staff. Review project plans, specifications, and materials, then confer with senior inspectors and engineers to clarify requirements. Gain proficiency in material testing and engineering documentation through hands-on training in preparation for full inspector responsibilities.
