Job Summary
Inspector (MTA) stationed at Poughkeepsie Metro-North Station with the primary site at the Hicksville, NY office. Responsible for conducting daily surveillance and inspections to ensure work complies with Construction Contract Documents, preparing detailed daily inspection reports, monitoring 6-week look-ahead schedules, assisting in risk mitigation and change control, generating non-conformance reports, participating in progress meetings, reviewing daily work plans and shop drawings, developing inspection forms/checklists, performing day/night/weekend inspections to ensure safety and compliance, serving as Engineer-in-Charge during weekend outages, managing closeout processes (punch-list, warranty docs), and streamlining submittal reviews using Asite. Requires Civil Engineering or related degree, 3-5 years’ inspection experience, and relevant certifications (ICC, ACI, MTA tracking). Strong organizational, communication, and independent/team work abilities with proficiency in report writing.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3-5 years of experience in construction inspection, preferably in roadway or transit projects
- Familiarity with MTA C&D standards and construction contract documents
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and inspection procedures
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
- Proficiency in report writing and documentation
- MTA Tracking Training Certification
- ICC (International Code Council) Certification
- ACI (American Concrete Institute) Certification
