Job Summary
Visually inspect raw materials, in-progress goods, and finished products for defects such as cracks, pits, corrosion, and incomplete welds. Use calipers, gauges, micrometers, ultrasonic thickness testers, and digital cameras to measure components against part prints, schematics, and quality standards. Document findings in logs, charts, and electronic forms, identifying nonconforming material and routing it to the next step. Compare results to approved samples and build specifications, then suggest adjustments to production processes or corrective actions. Provide feedback to supervisors and collaborate with other departments to improve quality and safety while ensuring all work follows approved procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to inspect and measure various types of material and products and from various manufacturing processes such as: castings, stampings, laser cut blanks, press brake, welding, sub assemblies, electrical components, hydraulics, cables, plating, etc.
- Ability to effectively communicate and document nonconforming material findings, and work with other departments to contain nonconforming material
- Ability to read and interpret part prints and air/electric schematics
- Basic computer skills
