Job Summary
Conduct inspections and regulatory investigations of liquor and cannabis facilities during all operating hours to ensure compliance with the Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis Act, Criminal Code, and AGLC policies. Investigate complaints and non-compliance issues, prepare detailed reports, and provide evidence at Board Hearings. Educate and train licensees and registrants regarding compliance practices, while responding to inquiries from the public, government departments, and regulatory agencies. Verify patron ID for individuals under 25 and monitor the responsible sale and service of alcohol and cannabis. This permanent full-time role in Grande Prairie requires a valid driver's license, flexible hours including late evenings and weekends, and a security clearance. Candidates must hold a post-secondary diploma in law enforcement or related fields with two years of inspection experience.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a post-secondary diploma in law enforcement/security/justice/investigations or related diploma
- 2 years' experience in inspection, investigation, other regulatory compliance
- Equivalencies such as significant experience in a licensed premises or gaming facility
- Proficiency with computer applications and systems to prepare reports and manage case files and manage documentation
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues, leadership, industry stakeholders and members of the public
- Strong communication, judgement, and critical thinking abilities with the capacity to conduct thorough investigations and resolve conflicts constructively
- Ability to work flexible hours, including late evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight travel
- Possession of a valid, non‐graduated driver's license and access to reliable transportation
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice
- General knowledge of the Criminal Code, the Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Act, the Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Regulation, and Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) policies and procedures
- Basic knowledge of accounting and case management systems
- Canadian citizen, permanent resident or eligible to work in Canada
- Ability to obtain a satisfactory security clearance and clean drivers abstract (if necessary) prior to employment
