Job Summary
Conduct in-process and final inspections of machined aerospace parts and assemblies using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), calipers, and other precision instruments. Interpret Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T) drawings to identify inspection requirements and generate detailed reports analyzing adherence to specifications. Initiate nonconformance records, troubleshoot errors, and negotiate resolution for non-conforming parts while providing quality training to manufacturing personnel. Participate in design reviews to ensure conformance to specifications and assist engineering with tooling validation. Requires regular on-site attendance in a manufacturing shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and hazardous equipment. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons due to ITAR compliance.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship
- U.S. permanent residence (Green Card)
- U.S. protected person status
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Associate degree or similar post-secondary or vocational training in machining or a similar program
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a CMM Operator in a machining environment
- Aerospace industry experience
- Demonstrated accuracy in reading and interpreting blueprints, planning, and engineering documents, quality standards, customer specifications, manufacturing control plans, including PCM, and other technical design standards
- Advanced mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide using fractions and decimal equivalents), familiar with geometric tolerance
- Experience in accurately reading precision measuring instrumentation, including mics, calipers, height gauges, tape measures, and other similar devices
- Understanding of nonconforming product
- Knowledge of customer and industry standards and quality system requirements, including AS9100, and FAA requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing (English)
- Basic skills using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Regular attendance on-site at the workplace
- Ability to regularly stand and walk throughout the facility, including all buildings and the manufacturing areas
- Ability to periodically lift, carry (short distances), and push/pull up to 100 pounds using cranes or other material handling equipment and/or peer assistance
- Ability to regularly climb steps, stairs, or ladders
- Ability to occasionally bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneel
- Constant communication verbally and in writing (English) using a phone, texts, or other messaging
- Visual acuity to accurately read mics, calipers, or other precision measuring instruments; accurately distinguish colors
- Ability to use hands and fingers to operate computer keyboards, measurement instruments, and manually examine parts
- Visual ability to read precise measurements and part markings
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodations
- Successful completion of a drug screen
- Successful completion of a criminal background screening
- Possibility of Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) requirement
- Possibility of credit report requirement
- Possibility of medical physical examination requirement
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree or similar post-secondary or vocational training in machining or a similar program
- Aerospace industry experience
- Knowledge of problem-solving techniques (i.e., Statistical Quality Control/Statistical Process-Control, etc.)
- ERP experience
- Experience with traditional precision measurement tools (mics, calipers, gauges, etc.)
