Job Summary
The Inside Machinist will provide Journeyman-level support in machine, fabrication, and refurbishment of shipboard components, utilizing templates and technical documentation. Responsibilities include determining speeds and feeds for machining operations, inspecting parts for dimensional accuracy, operating various manual and CNC machine tools, performing preventative maintenance on equipment, and acting as a Tool Room Attendant. Qualifications include experience in machining, familiarity with precision measuring instruments, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. A High School diploma or equivalent and four years of related experience are required.
Required Qualifications
- High School education, or Trade School or equivalent
- 4 years of related experience
- Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty
- Must be able to maintain current training and qualifications per equipment manufacturer’s technical requirements and software updates
- Must be able to complete OHSA 10 course
- May require forklift license depending on shop need
- Must be able to obtain and maintain CAC ID Base access and DoD Security Clearance
