Job Summary
Under close supervision, handles liability and property claims within designated authority. Investigates and adjudicates claims to verify coverage, establish reserves, obtain statements, draft correspondence, and determine liability in accordance with applicable state laws and regulations. Supports policyholders and claimants by communicating findings, coordinating with other departments, and utilizing subrogation opportunities where appropriate. Learns state-specific liability and no-fault/mersonal injury regulations, and collaborates with internal teams to process settlements and provide ongoing updates. This remote role is aligned with an Illinois residency preference and requires adherence to standard claims-handling procedures, including documentation, inquiries, and ongoing professional development.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED and two years of related claims handling or customer service experience, or equivalent educational experience
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred
- Successful completion of Introduction to Insurance (INTRO) and Introduction to Claims (AIC 30) preferred
- Obtain appropriate licenses as required by state within 45 days of employment (external) or 90 days (internal)
