Job Summary
Greet patients upon arrival, verify admission status in the EHR, and route telephone calls to appropriate staff while taking accurate messages. Initiate patient medical charts, compile forms, and enter collected data into computer systems or forward documents to HIM for scanning. Assist with inpatient admissions and transfers as assigned by the Nurse Manager, serving as an interpreter for Navajo-speaking patients when needed. Maintain strict confidentiality of all privileged information and uphold WIHCC's vision, mission, and value statements. Perform basic office management functions, demonstrate cost-effective supply usage, and contribute positively to staff and patient rapport.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- One year on-the-job experience as an Acute Care or Inpatient Unit Receptionist and/or in an administrative support position
- BLS/CPR certification
- Valid unrestricted and insurable driver's license
- Successful background investigation
- Suitable requirements for a Child Care position
- Knowledge of strong work ethics in the workplace
- Basic application of confidentiality
- Knowledge and experience in basic computer skills, e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Skills in reading and writing
- Ability to use medical software such as RPMS and EHR
- Ability to provide excellent telephone etiquette
- Ability to assume Clinical Receptionist duties and responsibilities, while handling daily stressful and fast-paced situations in a clinical area
- Ability to follow all HIPAA rules and regulations
- Ability to be dependable in attendance and job performance
- Ability to meet attendance, overtime (if necessary), and other reliability requirements of the job
- Ability to accept and learn from feedback
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

- Must occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Required work schedules may include evening, weekend, overnight shifts, extended hours, or irregular schedules and rotation as operational needs dictate
- Absolute preference will be given to qualified Navajo applicants
- If there is no qualified Navajo applicant, preference will be given to qualified American Indian applicants
