Job Summary

Optimize drug therapy by identifying and resolving drug-related problems to improve therapeutic outcomes. Provide patient care in compliance with state and federal laws, including prescribing medications under collaborative drug therapy management agreements. Supervise and verify the accuracy of work completed by support personnel during assigned shifts. Ensure compliance with target drug programs, formulary management, and adverse drug event monitoring. Document and report clinical interventions, medication errors, and adverse drug events while participating in department quality improvement efforts. Follow all policies, procedures, and regulations set forth by the Board of Pharmacy and applicable regulatory agencies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Pharmacist [Massachusetts License]
  • Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration [MCSR - Massachusetts]
  • Experience working as a pharmacist 2-3 years preferred

Desired Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy
  • Extensive knowledge and ability in all areas of the department including: IV Admixtures, Drug Information, Ambulatory, Manufacturing, and Drug Distribution
  • Attention to detail
  • Demonstrate appropriate knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span of the neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient
  • Possess ability to assess patient data relative to age specific needs
  • Works relatively independently
  • Participates in the training of medical, nursing and allied health professionals
  • Must complete 20 continuing education credits per year to maintain license
  • Familiarity with pharmacy practice settings, legal requirements and limitations, prescription information and calculations, drug identification and generic equivalents, drug manufacturing, packaging and labeling information, and proper drug handling and storage practices
