Job Summary
The Inpatient Hospital Coding Specialist III is responsible for ensuring accurate and appropriate medical coding for inpatient and interventional radiology cases, maintaining compliance with coding guidelines and regulatory agencies. The role involves coding highly complex patient classes, reviewing medical records for documentation accuracy, and ensuring the correct assignment of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT codes. The specialist maintains up-to-date coding knowledge, engages in quality reviews, and communicates with healthcare providers to obtain necessary information for accurate coding assignments. Candidates must have a high school diploma, relevant coding certification, and three years of inpatient coding experience.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Current HIM or Coding Certification through AHIMA or AAPC
- Three years of hospital inpatient coding or interventional radiology hospital coding experience
Desired Qualifications
- Graduate of Health Information Technology (HIT) or equivalent program
- Medical Coding Certification Program
