Job Summary
Board-certified/eligible Hospice & Palliative Medicine physician sought for a full-time inpatient-focused role at Summa Health Akron Campus. The physician will join a team of 10 physicians and 10 advanced practice providers, provide inpatient-based palliative and hospice care within an acute palliative care unit, participate in weekend and night call, and contribute to teaching opportunities in the HPM Fellowship Program and with residents/medical students. The role supports a comprehensive benefits package with a sign-on bonus, education loan assistance, relocation, and CME allowance. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams including pharmacists, social workers, and spiritual care staff is central, as is engagement in education, program development, and ongoing care coordination within the hospital and affiliated community partners. Epic System EMR is used for documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Board Certified/Eligible in Hospice & Palliative Medicine
- Fellowship trained in Hospice & Palliative Medicine
- Current and unrestricted license in the State of Ohio, or willing to obtain
- Compassionate, caring demeanor with patients, families, and staff
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Commitment to inpatient care and teaching opportunities
- Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- Experience with Epic System EMR
- Hospital-based inpatient hospice experience preferred
