Job Summary
Injury Examiner at USAA: adjust complex auto and homeowner bodily injury claims (including UM/UIM and small business) to confirm coverage, determine liability, investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and adjudicate within state laws; deliver concierge-level member service through proactive communication and empathy; handle various claim types and collaborate with vendors and internal partners to resolve issues. Remote eligible in the continental US with occasional travel; on-site three days/week for residents within 60 miles of a USAA office (Phoenix area). Requires 4 years auto claims experience and HS diploma; licenses must be acquired within 90 days and up to 3 attempts. Preferred: college degree, insurance designations, military or military-spouse experience.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
- 4 years auto claims and injury adjusting experience
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of auto claims contract, investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and adjudication
- Advanced negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrated strong time-management and decision-making skills
- Proven investigatory, prioritizing, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills
- Advanced knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology associated with bodily injury claims
- Ability to exercise sound financial judgment and discretion in handling insurance claims
- Advanced knowledge of coverage evaluation, loss assessment, and loss reserving
- Acquisition and maintenance of insurance adjuster license within 90 days and 3 attempts
