Injection Molding Process Technician

Job Summary
Set up, calibrate, and optimize Engel injection molding machines while troubleshooting process issues and performing root-cause analysis on equipment failures. Lead mold, resin, and equipment installations, transfers, and startup activities, then complete changeovers with proper setup and process validation. Monitor machine efficiency and cycle times to resolve performance issues, establish processing parameters, and maintain accurate production records. Partner with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and support operator development through coaching and hands-on training. Work 3rd shift hours (11pm-7am) with occasional weekend overtime, communicating progress during shift handoffs and team meetings.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 3 years of injection molding experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience setting up, troubleshooting, and optimizing injection molding processes
- Strong understanding of molding equipment, tooling, and auxiliary systems
- Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and manufacturing software systems
- Work 3rd shift hours 11pm-7am
- Occasional overtime on weekends
- Flexible to support various shift schedules as business needs require
- Occasional domestic and international travel may be required
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Engel injection molding machines
- Completion of a Department of Labor-approved apprenticeship program focused on Plastics Engineering Technology
- Experience working in a global manufacturing organization
- Knowledge of SAP, CMMS, BDK, CONNEX, or similar manufacturing systems
- Injection molding processes and plastics technology
- Screws, barrels, material delivery systems, dryers, grinders, separators, and temperature control equipment
- Hydraulics, pneumatics, power transmission systems, and PLCs
- Mold design, tooling, blueprints, and technical specifications
- Manufacturing efficiency, quality systems, process controls, and continuous improvement methodologies
- Basic statistics and data-driven problem-solving techniques
