Job Summary
Infusion Nurse, Independent Contractor based in the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area. Responsible for providing comprehensive infusion nursing care to assigned patients, coordinating with in-house RN staff, educating patients and families, and maintaining meticulous documentation.Responsibilities include biophysical/psychosocial assessments, physical exams, nursing care planning, identifying changes in patient condition, patient/family education on prescribed therapy and infection control, management of intravenous access devices (including CVADs/PICCs), discharge planning input, and adherence to nursing practice acts and policies. Operational duties cover coordinating patient care for an assigned group, maintaining supply inventories, ensuring pump maintenance logs, completing electronic charting via iPad, adhering to universal precautions and HIPAA, and reporting adverse events. Requires RN licensure in applicable practice states, CPR certification, and at least one year of RN experience (preferably in home infusion), with pediatric infusion experience preferred. Hybrid/remote work not indicated; position is in-person in Dallas, TX with intermittent visits.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Licensed and registered as a registered nurse in the States where practicing
- Current CPR certification
- At least one year of experience as a registered nurse preferably in a home infusion setting
- When providing care to pediatric patients, at least one year of experience as a pediatric nurse preferably in a home infusion setting and/or the ability to become competent in pediatric practices associated with pediatric home infusion
- Knowledge and experience in managing infusion access devices such as peripheral lines, PICC lines and central venous catheters including implantable ports
- Free from any communicable diseases, illnesses or injuries that may interfere with the employee’s ability to perform tasks required of the position
- Flexible with work schedule
- Takes responsibility for primary patients, when an after-hours need for care arises whenever possible the nurse clinician will provide any necessary care needs and communicate all actions performed via the report system or needed to the in-house RN staff or the AOM On Call RN
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Intermittent visits based on nurse’s availability
