Infusion Center Pharmacy Technician Outpatient

Under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician has responsibility for assisting in all aspects of the drug distribution, billing and patient record keeping processes in the provision of Pharmaceutical Care. Must staff an average of at least 40 hours per pay period in the infusion center pharmacy, including Henderson location. Responsibilities include preparing intravenous solutions (including hazardous medications), ensuring compliance with USP 797 and 800 regulations, performing clerical functions, packaging medications in unit-dose packaging, operating departmental equipment, maintaining systems and records, assisting in training and competency of staff, preparing extemporaneously compounded medications, conducting monthly inspections, participating in pharmaceutical inventory and purchasing in the absence of the Purchasing Specialist, and participating in quality improvement and hospital committees. Education required: High School diploma; six months of sterile compounding experience preferred; on-the-job training 6-12 months; knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Must be licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in Indiana and Kentucky or qualify for licensure, and obtain Certified Pharmacy Technician designation within one year of employment.
