Job Summary
As an Infrastructure Design Engineer, you will design and create layouts of data center infrastructure, perform capacity planning, monitor and optimize performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement security measures. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams and utilize AutoCAD for detailed technical drawings. Candidates must have proven experience in large-scale data center environments, strong knowledge of data center architecture and IT security best practices, excellent troubleshooting skills, and strong communication abilities.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience designing and deploying infrastructure in a colocation, inside plant, or telecommunications facility or similar role in a large-scale data center or telecom environment.
- Strong knowledge of data center architecture along with the minimum design requirements for network, compute and storage racks as well as layer 2/3 connectivity and virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Solid understanding of physical design standards (ANSI/TIA-942) and IT security best practices in data centers and colocation facilities.
- Strong understanding of public cloud infrastructure and the global footprint for a geographically diverse production network.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze complex issues and implement effective solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Desired Qualifications
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, MCSE, VCP, Autodesk Certified Professional) would be a plus.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar software for designing data center layouts and infrastructure components.
