Job Summary
Lead, supervise, and assign daily work to a team of estimators; plan, prepare, and oversee construction cost estimates for buildings and facilities based on drawings, specifications, and project requirements; prepare and review cost estimates and supporting documentation used to secure state and federal school construction grants and loans; validate estimates against district estimates and coordinate with architects and engineers to resolve discrepancies; analyze bid variances, review contractor cost breakdowns, and approve/reject submissions for progress payments; establish and maintain procedures for project approvals, plan reviews, and public bidding; develop cost-tracking systems and generate reports comparing estimated versus actual costs; conduct workshops and training on construction bidding and cost-estimating practices; onsite at client site to enable delivery and client relationship development; oversee budgeting, change orders, and pricing/claims support in contract negotiations.
Required Qualifications
- Fourteen (14) years full-time paid professional experience in the preparation of complete cost estimates for major/complex type I, II, or III, and V building construction as defined by the State building codes
- Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering or construction management
- Three (3) years of full-time paid experience in supervising estimators
- Must have worked for a construction cost consulting firm for at least five (5) years
- Twenty (20) or more years solid full-time paid professional experience in the preparation of complete cost estimates for major/complex type I, II, or III, and V building construction as defined by the State building codes
- Degree not required
- Five (5) years of full-time paid experience in supervising estimators
