Job Summary
Information Technology Technician position at Vancouver Public Library, on-site in Vancouver, BC. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and resolving hardware/software problems, building desktop images, desktop/mobile device support, library applications and server-related tasks, user account management, training staff, writing and maintaining documentation, and handling emergencies related to library IT systems. Requires an IT-related degree or two-year diploma, tier-two desktop and application support experience, familiarity with Active Directory/Entra, SCCM/Intune, Office apps, MS Defender, scripting (PowerShell, bash, Python), SQL knowledge, and ability to write end-user documentation. Must be able to work in a team and independently, and have a BC driver’s license. Salary ranges from $43.78 to $51.70 per hour (annualized to $91,062–$107,536). Employment type: Regular Full-Time; work schedule may change with notice.
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate or college degree in an IT related discipline with emphasis on desktop and application support, or a diploma in computer technology from a two-year program or related discipline plus sound related library experience.
- Experience in tier two desktop and application support, management of desktop computer fleets, management of mobile devices, customer support.
- Experience working in a library and in maintenance and support of Integrated Library System applications is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A valid driver’s license for the province of British Columbia.
