Job Summary

Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) in Aurora, CO supporting a DoD-wide security engineering program. Responsible for designing, implementing, testing, and fielding secure systems and networks; enforcing security policies across the IS lifecycle; conducting RMF/NIST-based certification and testing; developing program documentation (SEP, risk assessments, SECONOP, SPP, Anti-Tamper, Cybersecurity Strategy, Test Plans, System Security Plans); and applying risk mitigation to ensure compliant, secure architectures. Requires 5+ years of ISSE experience on federal programs, DoD TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph ability, strong security and IT systems engineering knowledge, RMF/NIST familiarity, SCA/assessment experience, DoDAF awareness, RMF/Xacta/eMass/ServiceNow expertise, and proficiency with Windows and Linux. Onsite full-time role in Aurora, CO with a comprehensive benefits package; salary range $95k-$150k and U.S. citizenship required.

Required Qualifications

  • Active and within scope DoD TS/SCI clearance
  • Ability to obtain a favorable Counter Intelligence (CI) Polygraph
  • At least five (5) years of experience as an ISSE on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity within the Federal Government
  • Expert technical knowledge in security engineering and IT systems engineering
  • Experience with testing methods, automated tools, plans, and procedures for verification of compliance and vulnerability requirements
  • Expert knowledge of security engineering, design concepts and principles
  • Familiarity with RMF methodologies and NIST SP 800-series and CNSSI 1253, JSIG, and DAAPM
  • Experience with modern networks, operating systems, databases, and virtual computing
  • Extensive experience analyzing information technology and system risk in complex environments and articulating results to all levels of personnel
  • Experience conducting information system security control assessments (SCAs) and applying standard auditing techniques
  • Knowledge of DoDAF and CPI mandates
  • Extensive knowledge of DoD/IC policies and acquisition processes
  • Ability to develop and interpret security architectures, data flow diagrams, and publications
  • Proven ability to multi-task and deliver on-time with high quality
  • Proficient in Microsoft and LINUX
  • Experience with RMF databases (eMass, ServiceNow, Xacta)
  • Ability to understand information systems equipment configurations
