Job Summary
The Information Security Specialist will provide dedicated support and mentoring to civil society organizations, human rights activists, and independent media on information security needs. Responsibilities include assessment and training on internet security issues, development of country strategy, dissemination of information security knowledge, and training local counterparts. Candidates should possess a strong technical background, existing relationships with relevant stakeholders, and be willing to travel up to 50%. Qualifications include at least 3 years of experience in the field, a Bachelor’s degree, fluency in English and Spanish, and strong writing and interpersonal skills.
Required Qualifications
- Existing, trust-based relationships with stakeholders working for civil society organizations, human rights organizations, and independent media.
- At least 3 years’ experience in information security, digital security principles, and safe computing practices
- Fluency in English and Spanish
- Solid understanding of internet’s building blocks (DNS, SSL, IP, etc.)
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience developing professional relationships
- Broad training experience
- Strong writing skills (English)
- Familiarity with both commercial and open-source digital security tools
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple activities.
