Job Summary
Support a collection logistics, indexing, and inventory project in Los Alamos, NM. Coordinate boxed documents for offsite storage, maintain box barcodes and inventory data, assist with onsite indexing, and help ensure quality control of outsourced indexed records before uploading into library systems. Duties include tracking and coordinating boxes, preparing shipments, uploading inventory data, communicating with offsite storage vendors and LANL groups, supervising/assisting student workers, onsite indexing of reports (including materials that may contain Controlled Unclassified Information), reviewing indexed records from an outside vendor for accuracy, and participating in the development of information retrieval strategies and procedures. May support FOIA requests, assist in inventories and audits, and distribute information following established procedures. Strong candidates will have detail-oriented data-entry and organizational skills, experience with spreadsheets, and the ability to follow established procedures; library experience is helpful but not required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Full understanding of technical information research including working knowledge of related fields
- Strong attention to detail; accurate data entry experience; strong organizational skills
- Ability to follow detailed procedures and protocols
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Experience using spreadsheets such as Microsoft Excel or similar tools
- Ability to lift boxes up to 25 pounds
