Job Summary
Coordinate the checking in and checking out of physical files throughout the office and assist in file maintenance and closing processes. Perform periodic office-wide file inventories and manage ongoing Information Governance projects, reporting needs, and progress to the Information Governance Manager. Identify and document business process workflows, assist with firm digitization projects, and support the defensible disposition of records reaching the end of their retention period. Act as a subject matter expert for offsite storage locations, coordinating the receipt, notification, and transition of records. Develop and maintain strong relationships with administrative personnel and legal professionals to ensure compliance with department objectives. This role supports the Information Governance Department at Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC, a law firm of 300 attorneys in over 30 practice groups, located in Syracuse, New York.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to routinely work with standard file boxes weighing up to 40 pounds
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
- In-depth working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to prioritize and complete multiple assignments in an accurate and timely manner
- Willingness to learn and adapt to Firm needs
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Team player with a positive attitude
- Strong typing and transcription experience
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or related field preferred
- A background in records preferred
- A background in a Law Firm preferred
- This position may be required to occasionally travel to our Rochester office location based on business need
