Job Summary
The Informatician I for Vital Statistics Data Systems in Public Health will work with the vital records team to enhance data workflows and support public health programs. Key responsibilities include data analysis, technical training, and partnership building to improve data usability and project management in Nebraska's public health framework.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Statistics, Epidemiology, Informatics, or Health field plus 4 years of experience in data analysis
- Master's Degree in Public Health, Statistics, Epidemiology, Informatics, or Health field plus 2 years of experience
- Ability to independently identify issues in data flows or user workflows
- Skill in data analysis, quality assurance, and basic statistical modeling
- Knowledge of statistical and public health data principles and vital records workflows
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Health, Informatics, Biostatistics, or a closely related field
- Experience working with vital records or public health surveillance systems
- Proficiency in SQL, R, Python, or SAS for data management, cleaning, and analysis
- Familiarity with data standards such as HL7, FHIR, USCDI
- Experience designing or supporting dashboards, data visualizations, or public health reports for non-technical audiences
- Experience with data quality improvement processes
- Strong interpersonal skills
