Job Summary
Infectious Disease Officer in the U.S. Army Medical Corps responsible for studying the causes, effects, and patterns of infectious diseases, including biological warfare threats; participates in research to diagnose, treat and control transmission within the military and communities, with opportunities for humanitarian missions and service in the Army Regular or Reserve, including various medical benefits and loan repayment programs.
Required Qualifications
- Must possess a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. school of medicine or osteopathy
- Foreign graduates may apply if they have a permanent certificate from the Educational Council of Foreign Medical Graduates
- Must have a current, valid, active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States, District of Columbia, or U.S. territory
- Must be eligible for board certification
- Must have completed at least one year of an approved Graduate Medical Education (GME) internship
- Must be able to meet the criteria to be appointed as a commissioned officer in the US Army Reserve
- Must be a permanent resident of the United States
