Job Summary
Infection Preventionist at Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital responsible for implementing and maintaining the Infection Control Program, serving as liaison to the Infection Control Committee, conducting routine surveillance of patients, personnel, and environmental factors, promoting compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements, and delivering communication, training, data analysis, and policy development to prevent healthcare-associated infections; requires CIC certification and appropriate nursing/medical technology/public health degrees with relevant experience, Texas licensure eligibility, and strong analytical/communication skills; includes on-call duties and potential local travel, with a focus on maintaining patient and staff safety and participating in hospital quality initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor and/or Master’s degree in Nursing, Medical Technology, Microbiology, or Public Health; CIC certification; Two years of experience in acute care or public health; RN licensure in Texas or eligible for Texas licensure; MT/MLS/ASCP path if applicable; M(ASCP) or equivalent if microbiology path; Knowledge of infection control practices; Ability to communicate effectively; Proficient with computer programs; Surveillance and reporting abilities; Ability to work independently; On-call responsibilities; Willingness to travel within the Houston Metropolitan area as needed
