Job Summary
Infection Preventionist I role focused on learning and implementing fundamental infection prevention and control (IPC) components including surveillance, outbreak investigations, rounding, and education for caregivers. Responsibilities include surveillance of healthcare-associated infections (chart review, data abstraction, data collection, NHSN definitions), program design and education, policy review, accreditation readiness, high-level disinfection and sterilization, and participation in quality improvement activities to promote patient safety. Day shift with on-call requirement; travel between Newark and Cecil/Wilmington campuses as needed. Opportunities to develop expertise in IPC, epidemiology, and healthcare quality while contributing to community health and safety.
Required Qualifications
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing, public health, biology or other scientifically/health science related field required
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required or to be pursued within 24 months
- Appropriate clinical license (DE RN license, Respiratory, Pharmacy)
- MD license required for Cecil campus
