Job Summary
Infection Prevention Nurse-IP/TX Nurse responsible for directing and monitoring the Infection Control Program, including surveillance, analysis, and reporting of hospital-acquired infections; educating employees on infection control; maintaining infection control standards per state and federal regulations and CDC/OSHA/APIC guidelines. On-site Infection Prevention for COVID-19 prevention and response per current CDC recommendations. Performs treatment-related duties under physician orders, assists in developing treatment plans, and collaborates with the DON, Medical Director, and care-plan team. Ensures adherence to infection prevention practices, conducts assessments, audits charting, and communications with residents and families. Provides timely orders for medications/equipment and supports overall care quality within a post-acute care facility.
Required Qualifications
- Current & unencumbered state license as a Registered Nurse or LPN
- Experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (preferred)
- IP Certification (preferred but not required)
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities and infection control practices, to include standard/universal precautions and guidelines for antibiotic stewardship
- Good verbal and written communication skills with ability to gather information, document, and report findings
- Good computer skills-including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and PCC experience preferred
- APIC Certification in infection control preferred, but not necessary
