Infection Prevention Nurse (RN/LPN)

Job Summary
Implement and monitor infection control policies across the facility while conducting routine inspections to ensure compliance with prevention standards. Educate staff, patients, and visitors on infection control practices, collect and analyze infection rate data, and support outbreak investigations. Maintain accurate documentation of activities and collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop updated infection control strategies. Candidates must hold a valid LPN license, possess five years of LPN experience, and complete specialized training in infection prevention and control.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing
- Current state license as a Licensed Practical Nurse
- CPR Certification
- Five years of experience as an LPN
- Tolerate potential exposure to blood, body tissues, and fluids with occasional exposure to hazardous materials and infectious diseases
- Manual dexterity required to operate modern office equipment
- Ability to travel as needed or assigned
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, or related field strongly preferred
- Graduate from an accredited Nursing program
- One year of experience in an infection control position strongly preferred
- Completed specialized training in infection prevention and control
- Knowledge of federal and state infection control regulations
- Must be nationally certified in Infection Prevention and Control by NADONA (IP-BC Credential) or completed APIC EPI Intensive Training for Long Term Care, or Certified in Infection Control through Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC)
- Ability to work with people with physical and mental disabilities, including those using profanity, derogatory language and the like
- Specialty training in Infection Prevention and Control through accredited continuing education
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
