Job Summary
Lead infection prevention and control efforts within Mackenzie Health by preventing, mitigating, and controlling infection transmission across clinical and non-clinical settings. Mentor staff, provide performance feedback, and coach teams on infection prevention practices while addressing breaches in protocols. Collaborate with unit managers to implement evidence-based policies and procedures, utilizing analytical and problem-solving skills to drive continuous quality improvement. Facilitate change initiatives and lead teams in stressful situations, ensuring compliance with safety policies and fostering a safe, inclusive environment. Requires CIC registration, relevant degree, and minimum three years of hospital IPAC experience.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in relevant health science or related discipline
- Current registration with the relevant college/association
- Current registration with the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC)
- Commitment to complete the CIC certificate within the first two years
- Completion of an Infection Prevention and Control Canada endorsed IPAC course
- Current IPAC Canada member in good standing
- Active member of IPAC GTA Chapter
- Minimum of 3 years combined recent hospital experience in Infection Prevention and Control
- Proven ability to work within a computerized environment
- Proven attendance record
- Ability to perform the essential duties of the job
- Demonstrates knowledge and experience in areas of patient care practices

- Demonstrates knowledge and experience in asepsis
- Demonstrates knowledge and experience in disinfection/sterilization
- Demonstrates knowledge and experience in adult education

- Demonstrates knowledge and experience in program administration
- Demonstrates knowledge and experience in epidemiology
- Ability to work independently, self-directed
- Ability to effectively lead clinical & non-clinical teams
- Ability to provide performance feedback, coaching and mentoring to staff
- Ability to address breaches in IPAC practices
