Job Summary
Infant/Toddler Teacher at the YMCA of the East Bay supports warm, inclusive learning environments aligned with Head Start and California guidelines. Responsibilities include planning engaging activities, observing and assessing children, using assessment data to personalize instruction, developing written curriculum goals with Creative Curriculum and Head Start frameworks, conducting two home visits and two parent/teacher conferences annually, creating stimulating learning spaces, building partnerships with families, ensuring health and safety compliance, maintaining accurate documentation and daily records, and participating in meetings and trainings to maintain current permits. The role requires strong English communication, potential bilingual abilities, and 2 years of classroom teaching experience in Early Childhood Programs, with relevant certifications (Pediatric First Aid and CPR) and background clearances. The work is on-site in Richmond/Rodeo/San Pablo, CA.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current Child Development permit at the Associate Teacher level or above
- 12+ semester units in Early Childhood Education, for Early Head Start, 6 units infant/toddler with grade C or above
- English communication proficiency, bilingual preferred
- 2 years of classroom teaching experience in Early Childhood Programs
- Pediatric First Aid and CPR certifications or completion within 90 days
- LiveScan fingerprint and criminal record clearance
- Ability to work under pressure in high stress situations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and other computer programs
