Job Summary
The position conducts infant and toddler classroom instruction within a Washington state early childhood program, creating safe, developmentally appropriate daily activities and lesson plans, coordinating with Center Manager and staff, and supporting language development and family engagement; requires a CDA or ECE certificate (or related associate degree) and experience in federally funded environments, with bilingual English/Spanish preference and Head Start/ECEAP familiarity. Responsibilities include planning, documenting, and evaluating activities; maintaining health and safety standards; communicating with families; mentoring staff; adhering to program curriculums and regulatory requirements; managing meal counts, data, and documentation; and participating in ongoing professional development. Qualifications include CDA/certificate or ECE-related degree, strong communication, data handling, and ability to work in a diverse, regulated setting; travel within local/state areas and completion of required trainings and background checks.
Required Qualifications
- Current Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA) or comparable certificate (State Initial ECE Certificate) or an Associate’s Degree in ECE or an Associate’s Degree with 30 ECE-related college credits
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of child development theories and practices
- Experience working in a federally funded and regulated environment
- Experience in policy and procedure processes
- Experience in planning and facilitating groups
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Experience in classroom risk management
- Understanding of the interrelationships between services and systems
- Ability to learn new tasks quickly and efficiently
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Ability to gather and analyze data for reports
- Strong customer service focus
- Ability to work with culturally diverse population
- Knowledge of personal computer, including Microsoft Office; and
- Accurate data, documentation and recordkeeping skills
- At least six (6) months experience in a child care setting
