Infant/Toddler Teacher

Job Summary

Provide respectful individualized care for infants and toddlers, including feeding, diapering, and holding, while maintaining clean and sanitized play, eating, and napping areas. Plan and implement age-appropriate indoor and outdoor activities that foster social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth, ensuring daily safety through established rules and emergency drills. Partner with parents through consistent communication, home visits, and conferences to reinforce continuity between center and home, developing individualized plans for each child's development. Accurately document care activities, conduct daily health checks, and manage attendance and meal counts in accordance with program policies.

Required Qualifications

  • State of California Children's Child Development Associate Teacher or Teacher Permit from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing
  • Proof of enrollment in an AA degree in a related field with no less than 3 semester units or 4 quarter units per year
  • Minimum of 3 infant/toddler units
  • Minimum of 1 year paid experience working with children 0-3
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish)
  • Ability to speak, read and write English well enough to understand and be understood by others
  • Ability to communicate, both oral and written
  • Listens attentively to others; asks clarifying questions to gain a better understanding of the other person's views and underlying assumptions
  • Works effectively in a team environment and actively participates in joint problem solving; willingly cooperates with co-workers
  • Attends work consistently and punctually arrives to meetings prepared and on time; honors work commitments; follows through on commitments; meets deadlines
  • Maintains confidentiality by honoring the private and confidential matters of co-workers, families, and children
  • Follows rules, regulations, and policies; positively contributes to implementing changes
  • Deals with issues directly, in a respectful and timely manner. Focuses on resolving the issue while not criticizing the person
  • Sensitive to the needs of others

  • Must pass a pre-employment Health Screening, including passing a physical examination
  • Verification of a T.B. clearance
  • Drug screening
  • Vaccination records for influenza, pertussis, and measles
  • LiveScan fingerprint clearance
  • Mandatory pediatric first aid and CPR certificate
  • Updated educational transcripts
  • Valid California Driver's License
  • Daily use of a personal and insured vehicle
  • Close vision
  • Peripheral vision
  • The ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to lift and/or move children up to 50 pounds
  • Must be available for weekend shifts
  • Must be available for 6 infant/toddler units
  • Must complete another 3 infant/toddler units within 1 year of employment

  • 6 infant/toddler units
  • Must have a minimum of 3 infant/toddler units and will be required to complete another 3 within 1 year of employment
