Job Summary
The Infant/Toddler Assistant Teacher supports classroom teachers to ensure responsive care for children aged 6 weeks to 3 years, promoting their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Responsibilities include assisting in lesson planning and delivery, maintaining classroom safety and hygiene, conducting child observations and assessments, and fostering engagement in a positive classroom environment. Applicants must have 30 college credits, with specific hours in Child Development, and experience working with young children. Valid credentials or certifications in early childhood education are also required.
Required Qualifications
- 30 college credits, including 18 hours in Child Development
- Demonstrated understanding of child growth and development
- Experience working with children 6 weeks to 3 years old
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to build rapport with children, parents, and families of high risk
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple competing priorities
- Must pass DCFS background check and maintain clearance throughout employment
Desired Qualifications
- Valid credentials or certifications, such as Early Childhood Education (ECE) certification or Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and email
Additional Requirements
- Willing and able to work flexible hours, potentially including evenings and Saturdays
- Occasional travel in the Chicagoland area may be required for training
